· On 9/11/2006 Marylee Hardenbergh, ADTR facilitated a Movement Choir during Camp Democracy in Washington, DC. · On 8/12/06, Ilene Serlin, Dianne Dulicai, & Robyn Flaum Cruz presented a panel discussion on dance therapy research at the 2006 annual meeting of the American Psychological Association held in New Orleans

· In the article entitled, Food For Thought in the July/August, 2006 issue of Dance Spirit Magazine, Susan Kleinman served as a ‘consultant’ for the author , Katia Bachiko. The article provides a test readers can take if they are concerned regarding eating getting in the way of their “well being.” The “test” has been expanded & adapted from one developed by The Renfrew Center Foundation, to include dancer issues. The ADTA is mentioned as a resource.
· An interview with Sally Totenbier, our ADTA spokesperson, was included in an article about dance/movement therapy in a July 06 issue of Your Magazine written by Elizabeth Kelly. This magazine is an online publication that provides monthly health and fitness content to more than 1,200 websites including universities, health clubs and medical centers across North America and in countries around the world.
· On 6/24/2006 Marylee Hardenbergh, Artistic director ofOne River Mississippi, successfully heldthe world’s largest site-specific dance and brought national attention to the Mississippi river. Her project was all over the media including, June issue of Dance Magazine (pg. 24), May’s issue in More Magazine (pg. 28), supported by mayor of New Orleans, C. Ray Nagin, heard on radio, television, many press coverage. Eight dance/movement therapists participated. Much recognition goes to Marylee for her ongoing community contributions, and powerful choreography that has impacted hundred of communities! · On 5/22/06, Karen Bradley and Suzi Tortora were mentioned in Malcolm Gladwell’s article in The New Yorker which profiled Cesar Millan, the host of the National Geographic TV show “Dog Whisperer.” Karen & Suzi’s contributions to movement analysis and attunement principles are beautifully applied to canine behavior. · Linni Deihl's paper on “Treating Psychogenic Somatic Disorders” appeared in the Journal for the 7th Appan International Festival-Symposium 2006 "Meditation and Healing in Asia Pacific Performing Arts" held May 1-4 in Seoul Korea. She has been invited to present in person in May 2007. This will be part of a Dance Therapy Workshop tour, beginning in Pune, India for two weeks, and Kyoto, Japan for three weeks
- On 3/14/2006, an article entitled Dance/movement therapy helps patients express themselves published in The Bergen Record (New Jersey), author Jessica Adler highlights her observation of dance/movement therapy session facilitated by Sari Breuer atBarnert Hospital in Paterson, NJ. · On 11/28/05, Jenny Lee was “e-published” in an online local newsletter with her article entitled Come into the light: Calling all creative ‘undergrounders’ to unearth their calling. - Sally Totenbier, ADTA Spokesperson announced that dance/movement therapy was mentioned during Saturday Night Live’s Digital Short “The Tangent” (February 4, 2006), featuring Fred Armisen as a conversationalist who mentions dance therapy during his stream of consciousness.
- Omnigraphics, a publisher in Detroit, will be including dance/movement therapy in their upcoming reference book, Alternative Medicine Sourcebook, 3rd Edition.The purpose of this Health Reference Series is to serve the needs of libraries that seek printed compilations of reference material for patrons who wish to research personal health issues. As sourcebooks, this volume will also show consumers the types of information that is available from various organizations.
- Susan Imus & Columbia College received a $1.4 million grant due to work in using dance/movement therapy in making connections for suicide prevention. In addition to interviews from the Chicago Tribune, this program is receiving federal recognition.

- Nava Lotan announced that dance therapy was mentioned at the Mind and Life Conference in Israel sponsored by Tel Aviv University and the Weizmann Institute of science.
- The Andrea Rizzo Dance Therapy Foundation was highlighted on ABC TV channel 7 in New York City. - Susan Rizzo (founder of The Andrea Rizzo Dance Therapy Foundation) was honored as Woman’s Day Magazine’s 1 of 4 “Woman of the Year” for her work in bringing dance/movement therapy to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in NYC and keeping her daughter Andrea Rizzo’s dream to becoming a dance/movement therapist alive after her sudden death after being killed by a drunk driver in 2002.
- Ilene Serlin, presented two lectures at the annual convention of the American Psychological Association, Aug. 18-21, 2005 in Washington, DC including Challenges & Creativity: a symposium, where she highlighted the role of creativity in assisting patients with breast cancer cope with the shock of diagnosis, the trauma of illness, and the choices of medical treatment.
- Ilene Serlin, published a chapterin a new book: Dancing Stories, edited by George Yancy and Susan Hadley, Jessica Kingsley Publishers, pub. May, 2005. Challenging questions about identity in relation to personality development, language and socialization is addressed as well as discussion regarding how cultural and historical contexts influenced theoretical approaches to the nature of ‘self’ and how these ideas in turn shaped how one perceives personal histories.
- The ABC's of Eating Disorders, is a 30 minute documentary created by producer, Joanna Popper and filmmaker, Arne Zimmerman, to increase awareness and understanding of eating disorders, and to promote body and self acceptance. Interviews with psychologists, dance/movement therapist Susan Kleinman, ADTR, and a diverse group of people with eating disorders, provide an understanding of this tenacious disorder. - Anne C. Fisher, ADTR recently, was interviewed by the American Psychological Association’s Monitor on Psychology, a publication that all APA members receive. The article is to focus on the creative arts therapies and possibly profile those interviewed. This article is expected to be published sometime this winter. More information will be available closer to publication date.
- Writer Siona LaFrance highlighted the ADTA’s 39th annual conference in New Orleans, LA in Thursday, October 14, 2004’s Times Picayune, Healing movement: Dance therapy uses the mind-body connection to choreograph a path to improved emotional and physical well-being. - Laurel Bridges, ADTR, Susan Kierr, ADTR, and Christine Zimbelmann, ADTR are the dance/movement therapy contributors to a recent publication, Creating Connections Between Nursing Care and The Creative Arts Therapies: Expanding the Concept of Holistic Care. This new publication was designed to educate health care professionals about creative arts therapies and to build collaboration in various health care settings. The editors are Carole-Lynne Le Navenec and Laurel Bridges, ADTR - the midwives (so to speak) of several years of work in the labor intensive process of producing this wonderful collection of 20 chapters by more than 20 writers, 370 pages, indexed! - Dianne Dulicai, ADTR and Miriam Berger, ADTR published an article "Global Dance/Movement Therapy Growth & Development" in The Arts in Psychotherapy Special Issue on the International Scope of Arts Therapies, Vol.32, No. 3. It is the first article that documents the spread of DMT worldwide -- interesting, informative, and affirming!
